Speed Hump? Is There Any Other Way?

The other day I was watching some crappy show on MTV. I know that doesn’t narrow it down as almost every show on MTV is crappy. What exactly the show was doesn’t matter at all.. it’s bad enough that I even have to admit to watching something on MTV.
But while watching this 30 minute huge waste of time I saw something that made me laugh out loud.. and you know me, I had to pause the TV and take a pic:
Now this is a road sign I can obey.
The sign is obviously warning people about a Speed Bump. You see signs like that all the time. But what the eff is a Speed HUMP?
Is that some sort of drive through brothel?
Maybe it’s a turbo-charged camel?
To be honest, the concept of the Speed Hump is not new to me at all. If you were to ask my Lady Friend she would tell you I am a master of the Speed Hump.
Everyone has their specialties I guess.

Too, too funny. I have no idea what that sign really means but it also made me laugh out load, a very good way to start the day.

That sign was probably near a high school. The sign was not for me. I’m an old bastard so I never worry about speed humping or running over fat guys on motorcycles. I usually fall over humps speedy or slow. I will try to keep up with you because you are young and you worry about speed humps. If I see you faltering in life or in your new marriage, I will tell you when to slow down. You can use me as a gauge.

I’m quitting my day job and becoming a fucking psychic (or however you spell it – my editor quit on me and I’m too lazy to google correct spelling. …and I never had an editor that worked for me.)

lol yes. The Speed Hump is quite popular around Nowheresville… Both varieties actually! lol But I believe the one this sign is talking about is several feet of raised pavement instead of the classic 1 foot by four foot bump. I’m not sure why they started doing this, because if you hit them too fast they launch your car into the air causing you to careen out of control. They’re kind of like pointless roundabouts. Something to waste tax dollars on I suppose. lol Again, both meanings of the phrase work for wasting tax dollars.

There are speed humps in Des Moines. More specifically, the eastside. Elsewhere the signs say speed bump.

Weird.. I had honestly never heard of a speed hump, but it sounds like many of you smart folks have. Why does anyone need something larger than a speed BUMP? Hit one of those at 30 mph and your day is ruined already. Do they need to actually put our lives in danger too?
