Jonah Hill Owes Me Something
Posted by Simple Dude | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 30-03-2011
I’ve got another post up over at Sprocket Ink today. It’s about one of my favorite things to do at night, in bed, with the Lady Friend. You guessed it, sleep. Hey, I said ONE of my favorite things. Go check it out!
I wrote a post last fall about shitty movies. Specifically shitty movies that are supposed to be funny. There seems to be a whole hell of a lot of them in the last couple years. And now I have to add a new one to the list. Cyrus.
I vaguely remembered this being in the theater but honestly didn’t remember anything about it, who was in it, what it was about, etc. But when the Lady Friend said it was coming from Netflix and told me who it was in it I thought that’s cool – should be worth watching. No. Fuck no. Do not waste your time on this. The movie was not funny. It was not dramatic. It was just bad. We watched the first 30 minutes or so, then fast forwarded to the end just to see what happened – although even that was a waste of time.
The movie has a couple moments that are slightly uncomfortable by intention, which could have been funny had they been written differently, but instead they just come across as uncomfortably bad. I have actually written a few funny screenplays myself that will probably never make it to the big screen. And this DOES get made? Ugh.
After this waste of time, Get Him To The Greek and the very unfunny movie Funny People, I am seriously starting to question Jonah Hill’s common sense. I know he is a funny guy. We was good in Super Bad and Knocked Up. He was even decent in that Night At The Museum sequel. But man does he make some horrible choices. Could it be just about the money? I don’t know. But someone needs to advise him on his script choices and get him back into a funny movie soon or people are going to turn on him.
As it stands, with the time I have wasted, I think he owes me something… I’m just saying.
Yes, you heard me right, you’re actually going to hear from the Lady Friend. She does indeed exist!!
Don’t forget to check out my article on Sprocket Ink – and be sure to leave me a comment, and while you’re at it visit the Simple Dude sponsor: What Would Jared Do?

You just convinced me to watch this thing. I have to see for myself.

I think Jonah and that guy marrying Katy Perry should be banned from all filmmaking.
Knocked up was J's peak. Go out on a high note, buddy. On a high note.
Seriously?… Reeeally??… Seriously!

I watched this terrible movie with Jonah Hill in it, it was actually a drama called 'Just Add Water'.. I was disappointed because his was one of the only vaguely interesting characters but they didn't DO anything with him. But yeah, definitely makes you question his choices.. maybe he has a bad agent.

Ugg, can't stand Jonah Hill. Didn't like him in Superbad, didn't like him in anything. Thanks for the heads up! I was thinking this would be a half decent movie. Thanks to you, I have 2 hours of my life back. You and your time traveling ways

Mental note: avoid Jonah Hill movies – thanks for the heads up SD

I agree with Stephanie on this one.

I have gone to movies and watched horrible filcks and asked for my money back and have gotten it – I will not name names but some were in the horror genre

I say that Superbad was Jonah Hills peak, that wad of spitball that they called Get Him to The Greek was just plain awful. I've only ever walked out on 2 movies in my life and that is one of them. @StephanieC FYI hes called Russell Brand. The UK had enough of him so we had a vote and shipped him of to the states. Cheers SD for the heads up.

I'd say Stephanie is right. Kill Jonah Hill, kill Russell Brand. Can we also off Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Snooki while we're at it?
Posted on: Mar/30/2011@8:01 pm
@ThomasMcCool – Riiiiight, I remember now. I think my subconscious intentionally blocked his name out for me, after "Forgetting Sarah Marshall".
@Oilfield & @Tricia – I love you guys. And I fully support the addition of Celine Dion, Pariah… I mean Mariah Carey and Snooki.
Throw in Chris Brown and we might even achieve world peace.
Seriously?… Reeeally??… Seriously!

I have never heard of the film cyrus before now but thanks for the heads up. I did quite like the film funny people though, but I liked that more for Seth Rogan's character then Joanah Hill's. He did have some funny moments in Forgetting Sarah Marshall too I thought.
I do think Russell Brand is quite funny though, so maybe its just my strange sense of humour that I have.

Jonah Hill, John C. Reilly . . . I would never think of seeing this movie for those two reasons alone. Throw in Will Ferrell, and you've got the unfunny hat trick.
Get Him to the Greek was funny in spite of Jonah Hill, in the same way The Other Guys was good in spite of Ferrell.

Sorry, I left out Seth Rogan. He sucks too.
Posted on: Mar/30/2011@8:26 pm
Ironically, though, I DO like Russell Brand. Can't wait to see his spin on Arthur. Though why they felt a need to remake this is beyond me.
Posted on: Mar/30/2011@8:30 pm
not a big Jonah Hill fan he hasn't done anything that impress me anyways going to go run over and read your post

Thanks for taking the kick in the nuts for us on this one. But that fucking idot on the left of the box would have turned me off immediatley. I guess I'm a bit old school, I don't much care for a lot of these new comics and comedians. I'd much rather watch George Carlin in the Thomas The Tank Engine shows than most of the tripe they're putting in theaters these days.

You should follow him on Twitter. People tell him he sucks and he retweets it himself, it's kind of like a badge of honor for him. He will probably love this post. If he agrees to make it up to you, let me know because that would make him awesome.

I'm seriously having issues with the new Arthur film. To me, there is only one Arthur = Dudley Moore. I'm sure they put their own spin on the story, but you are never gonna top Dudley Moore and Liza. Just…not gonna happen. It would be the same if they decided to remake Tootsie. Remakes.
And yay! Lady Friend–we look forward to hearing from you!!!!

Remakes = what has happened in Hollywood because they've all run out of original GOOD ideas.

I hate watching lousy films too–it's such a waste of time and effort. I'll be careful not to watch this movie.

A post on sleep = you are an effing genius.
Of course, I had to copy your topic of conversation (check it out http://www.iwanttobeforeverforeveryoung.blogspot.com).
Also… I think I sleep best when my alarm clock is going off. Just in case you were wondering.

Unfortunately, I watched Cyrus thinking it might have some funny parts. Boy was I sorely mistaken. Watching Jonah Hill in that movie just made me want to slap that fat bastard around. It was awful. His best work was probably Knocked Up, and that was probably because he was just a supporting actor.
Posted on: Mar/31/2011@3:00 pm
What the heck? Why would you even bother watching this… The trailer did *not* look good.
Thanks for the heads up though. Will make sure not to add it to my queu. Although by the time I'm done watching all the backed up Seasons of Dexter I'll be around 80.

I don't know what it is about this Hill guy, but I would pay good money to fart in his mouth. I really don't know what it is, but he irritates the hell out of me lol
Posted on: Mar/31/2011@6:00 pm
I doubt he made this movie for the money… thanks for the warning though, I almost rented it! Now I won't!
Posted on: Apr/1/2011@6:47 pm
I had never actually heard of this movie but now, thanks to you, the quality of my life has been tainted forever. I still have no intention of watching this movie though. In fact I think I will avoid it at all costs and would actually rather circumcise myself with a cheese grater than watch a John C.Reilly movie.

I thought Funny People was funny and cute…
